Research and Innovation

Technology Incubator of UNISC – ITUNISC is a project designed by UNISC and it seeks to technologically boost advanced and innovative undertakings in communities where the University operates. It contributes to a greener and diversified development in these places. Thus, ITUNISC focuses on creating businesses; support startups; offering physical space, training, advisory services, business advice and it gives assistance on creating projects focused on gathering non-refundable resources from funding institutions.

Nowadays, ITUNISC offers three types of business incubation: internal, external and also pre-incubation. For each process, enterprises must have gone through a public notice of continuous flow, and assessed by an examining board. The pre-incubation period lasts up to 6 months and the incubation one for 24 months. This period may be extended for another 12 months depending on what stage of development the project is in.

Moreover, pre-incubated and incubated businesses rely on partnerships set by ITUNISC like: SEBRAE (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service) ANPROTEC (Brazilian Association of Science Parks and Business Incubators), REGINP (Rio Grande do Sul Business Incubator and Science Parks Network), ACI (Commerce and Industry Association), AJEsc (Young Entrepreneurs Association), Chamber of Industry and Commerce, among others.

ITUNISC is also supported by CACT-NE (Science and Technology Research Center – Entrepreneurship Department), a body created to provide scientific and technological services to the companies installed at UNISC’s Science and Technology Park or even the ones associated to it.Businesses installed at ITUNISC are the ones participating in the pre-incubation and incubation processes; and the associated ones are those which have already graduated and still interact with the park, benefiting from its services.

Goal

The national and international companies that can turn for support from ITUNISC are:

  • Micro, small and medium size businesses;
  • Junior Enterprises (startups);
  • Research and Development sectors from these businesses.
