Pharmacy

The Pharmacy undergraduate course offered at UNISC is committed to train generalist, humanist, critical and thoughtful professionals. The occupation’s core functions combine preventing, promoting, protecting and restoring human health; developing activities related to drugs and medicines; performing clinical and toxicological analysis; executing food analysis, control and production and giving pharmaceutical assistance.

Students are encouraged to participate in activities that aggregate to their training during the entire undergraduate course. Some of these tasks may include: internships, health education practices in the community, multi and interdisciplinary seminars, technical field trips to pharmaceutical companies, academic week, research projects, extension projects, local, regional and national scientific events, lab and teaching tutoring programs, research and extension scholarships and others. Pharmacists graduated at UNISC will be able to, critically and humanistically, access society in its bio-psycho personal aspects, work in favor of the community, recognizing the social functions of their jobs as health professionals, giving pharmaceutical assistance, promoting sanitary surveillance, participating, with competence and critical spirit, in the national health policy, as well as planning, carrying out, and assessing research and extension projects that meet expectations of the present and regional contexts. Turning personal and social development into a priority for the curriculum is something that the undergraduate course establishes as a goal in order to become a new pharmacy professional.

The undergraduate course in Pharmacy offers the students a great infrastructure including several labs, such as: Microbiology, Anatomy, and Quality Control in Pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutical Technology, Cosmetology, Homeopathy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Hematology, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Toxicology, Clinical Biochemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology. Besides all the labs, the course manages two sectors that provide the regional community with services, they are: Farmácia Escola and Quality Control in Pharmaceuticals. This structure allows the students to develop their practical activities in such a way they can base their professional training with solid and well structured foundation, making them face practical situations that will benefit the understanding of theoretical topics.
