Besides all the events taking place at the University, there are several cultural activities happening around town.

In September, there are several parades to celebrate the history of the state of Rio Grande do Sul throughout the Farroupilha week.

Santa Cruz do Sul celebrates Oktoberfest, a traditional German festival, every year in October and in the following month it is time for ENARTE, Gaucho art and tradition festival (www.enart2014.com.br/).Besides these two important events, other cultural activities are held in Santa Cruz do Sul. In Venâncio Aires, there is Fenachim, a municipal festival celebrating Chimarrão, the most traditional drink in the state. 

Sobradinho hosts every April the Bean Fest.
