Accounting Sciences

The bachelor’s degree in Accounting Sciences offered at UNISC aims at training full accountants, in other words, professionals who are capable of performing duties associated to their profession, whose foundations are technical and integral training, offering the community socially responsible and skilled professionals in implementation and management of accounting information systems that give support to managing decisions in public and private organizations.

Besides a curriculum with solid theoretical foundations, this undergraduate course offers students access to an Accounting Study Center – CEC, which works as an ongoing forum for studies and discussions; an Office of Accounting Support – GAC that develops extension activities in the accounting field; and an Accounting Computer Laboratory giving support to the students’ learning process through the development of practicing activities, integrated through two mandatory and one optional supervised internships: the first one when taking Cost Management Practices (mandatory), another one when taking Bookkeeping and Tax Service Practices (mandatory) and the third one when taking Governmental Accounting Practices (optional). The tripod CEC, GAC and Accounting laboratory means the integration of teaching, research and extension, qualifying professionals continuously in the accounting field.

Established in 1964 and being one of the first undergraduate courses offered at UNISC, Accounting Sciences has its curriculum organized into 8 semesters and comprehends topics related to the national and international economic, financial, fiscal/tax and social environments, so it can meet the following training aspects:

I – Basic training topics – studies related to other fields of expertise including Business Management, Economics, Law, Quantitative Approaches, Mathematics and Statistics;

II – Professional training topics – specific studies related to Accounting Theories, including notions about actuarial activities and measuring financial, patrimonial, governmental and non-governmental information, audits, forensic accountings, arbitrage and controllership, with its special applications in the public and private sector.

III – Theoretical and Practical training topics – Supervised Internships, Complementary Activities, Independent Studies, Elective Courses, Accounting Practices in Computer Labs using specific accounting software.
